Yeah, I don't find it stringy or tasteless but it is a little gamey. I won't eat it again.... In fact, I didn't KNOW I was eating it in the first place. They eat BABY camel in the Gulf... The old camels are just NOT good... I didn't think the baby camel was all that good...

You are right, Jacqueline. I've also eaten camel once in a shoarma / durum in Doha / Qatar. Same thing... I didn't know I was eating camel up until they told me.

RECIPE FOR STUFFED CAMEL (to serve 81 very hungry guests... or one big cat):

Ingredients: 1 young camel, 25 kg green beans, 25 kg onions, 50 kg rice, 10 ducks, 40 pigeons, 9 kg garlic, 6 kg salt, 25 kg tomatoes, 25 kg potatoes, 3 kg pepper, 20 chickens, 5 turkeys, 80 boiled eggs

Preparation: Prepare the turkeys, ducks, chickens and pigeons in the usual way & stuff them to one half with a prepared mixture of onion, tomato, potato, green bean, garlic & half-cooked rice. Stuff each pigeon with 2 boiled eggs. Stuff each chicken with 2 stuffed pigeons. Stuff each duck with 2 stuffed chickens and stuff each turkey with 2 stuffed ducks. Stuff the camel with the five stuffed turkeys & leave it in a low heated oven for 16 1/2 hours.

That stuffed camel recipe looks like a recipe for food poisoning. Good thing Avalon didn't eat that one!

As much as I love Moroccan food and all the visits to the Moroccan restaurant in my area, I never had camel.

Hope it was good and enjoyed reading!

Nope I've never eaten camel. My husband ate pigeon when he went to Moracco for work a couple years ago. He is braver than I am.

Happy Hop

I've never eaten camel and don't know if I would -- I'm not much of an adventurous eater myself, but I'm sure my foodie cats would eat it. They eat everything!

Stuffed camel was featured in the Guiness Book of World Records as 'the largest item on a menu'. This record will probably never be broken.

My Ziggy (actually the smaller of my two cats) is a bottomless pit. She always finished Bowie's food if he doesn't and she'll eat anything that he refuses to eat! Great post!
